Easily one of the most passionate baristas from the Dose Espresso team, opened up his own cafe, and the rest is history. This somewhat hidden gem is easily the best coffee in Northbridge, and one of the many awesome cafes that exist beyond the bridge.

But why is it awesome? In my opinion, Ritual has consistently provided the best form of Gabriel Coffee in Sydney. There is a real desire to make fantastic coffee which comes through in spades.

With single origin coffees always on hand, and the occasional guest roast, if you are driving by in need of coffee, this is where you should be stopping.

P.S. It is T/A only from 3-3:30pm

I have been coming to Dose Espresso on and off for years now, and I have rarely walked in on a quiet day. This cafe is always pumping. Whether it is the school mums that seem to call this place home as part of their daily ritual, or the weekend rush, this is not the cafe to come to if you want it to yourself.

So why do they keep coming back? Dose has always been well staffed with attentive and friendly people who actually look like they enjoy being here. And while on occasion they move on and open their own cafes (as in the case of Ritual), the vibe seems to stay the same.

As for the coffee, over the time that I’ve been coming here the coffee has not only gotten more consistent, it has improved. Some of the single origin coffees that come through will surprise you, while the house blend is well out of the “commercial” zone.

All in all, if you are in the area, this is a great spot to check out. With single origin coffees always on hand, and the occasional cold drip, there should be something for everyone.

P.S. It is T/A only from 3-3:30pm

As a rule I try to avoid reviewing cafes on the first visit, so expect this one to get an update at some point, but as a brand new cafe in the Sydney CBD, these guys deserved a mention.

The first impression of the open space and relaxed atmosphere here is a kind to that of the Paramount Coffee Project, which is a fantastic thing for the city to have. The high ceiling and hard surfaces do unfortunately increase the residual noise in the cafe, though because of the space, it ends up being more of a background murmur.

It is surprising to see these guys open up a Mecca cafe so close to that of the King St Mecca, but the vibe and most certainly the menu sets them apart.

The coffee is certainly of a high standard, and with the direct connection to Mecca the good coffee will be great and the awesome coffee will be outstanding.

Certainly worht checking out

It is the first time that I have been back to The Wedge since it was sold, and in most instances that would mean that I was in for a poor shadow of the cafes former glory. In this case, that could not be further from the truth.

The new owners and staff have taken up the mantle and moved ahead, not backwards. They should great passion for what they do, and for the community that they serve. It is great to see.

It is also great to see that they are really paying attention to what their customers want by specifically choosing the Tightrope over other options. More so, thanks to the support of Sample Coffee Roasters, they have a great selection of singles on hand. Now all they need is to update their grinder… 🙂

One of the things I love about passionate cafes is the consistency that their focus and attention bring to the resulting coffee. Having been a regular here since they opened I can say that while the food menu has changed quite a bit (for the good I am told), the coffee has always been excellent. It tends to be the first place I get coffee from, and occasionally the last on most days.

I love the effort that they go to to ensure customers get the most out of their coffee experience. Using an aeropress for long blacks, brewing fresh chai, and constantly bringing in a range of delicious guest roasts for example, all make a massive difference to compared to your average cafe.

Easily the best choice for coffee in Hornsby.

If you are looking for the best cafe in Chatswood that demonstrates the massive benefits of providing a continuously changing menu of guest roasts, then you have found it here.

On a side street behind Westfield, you wouldn’t really expect that much from Elbow Room Espresso, but you’d be mistaken. As a coffee snob, I love coming here as I literally never know what I am going to get. For many cafes you’d likely (rightly so) see this lack of consistency as a negative. In this case, while I am not sure that the coffee I am drinking will be fantastic (though it is more than not), it will be interesting.

Not only that, but the ultra random American and Korean coffees that occasionally popup here make it a cafe that is certainly worth checking out.
